     AAI Corporation was founded in 1950. Today, it is a global corporation providing a vast array of innovative aerospace and defense technologies.

     The company’s businesses include tactical unmanned aircraft systems for the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and allied armed forces, as well as training and simulation systems, automated aircraft test and maintenance equipment, armament systems, aviation ground support equipment, and logistical, engineering, and supply chain services.

     AAI became an operating unit of Textron Systems Corporation and an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Textron Inc., in late 2007. United Industrial Corporation, AAI’s parent company, was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange until its acquisition by Textron in late 2007.

     Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Md., AAI has more than 484,000 square feet of facilities and manufacturing space. The company also has key facilities in Charleston, S.C.; Choctaw, Miss.; Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Huntsville, Ala.; and Orlando, Fla.; as well as numerous field offices around the country that support various defense industry customer bases and requirements. AAI has more than 2,500 employees and annual sales of more than $564 million.

     AAI Services Corporation, formerly AAI Engineering Support Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of AAI. Also headquartered in Hunt Valley, AAI Services was founded in March 1981 and provides training, engineering, and logistical support  and supply chain management services for its customers’ systems, facilities, and equipment on a worldwide basis.

     AAI’s strategic acquisitions in recent years include UK electronic warfare systems company ESL Defence Limited, Australian unmanned aircraft systems developer Aerosonde Pty Ltd, and functional test systems manufacturer Symtx Inc., of Austin, Texas.
