Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS)
The Surveillance Radar Training Set (SRTS) is an AAI designed, manufactured, tested, integrated, installed, and maintained high fidelity AN/APN1-T1 Radar Set Maintenance Trainer used to train radar operation and maintenance personnel in the E-3 Radar System Improvement Program (RSIP) modified radar system.
The SRTS program is based on proven common-core hardware and software originally developed by AAI for the Joint STARS Prime Mission Equipment Simulator program. The Joint STARS/SRTS programs required the design and development of many high-fidelity, simulated avionics panels with multi-functional displays, lamps, and switches. Our systems engineering, hardware engineering, and software development processes/techniques used in development of these trainers are typical of those applied to all AAI development programs.
Three innovative and proven technological concepts developed for our Joint STARS trainers were incorporated into the SRTS program:

- digital voltmeter
- frequency counter
- simpson milli-ohm meter
- time domain reflectometer
- power meter
- Simware controllable switches, rotary switches, and circuit breakers
- Active test point and connector technology
