AAI Corporation was founded in 1950. Today, we are a global corporation providing a vast array of innovative aerospace and defense technologies.
Our products and services include unmanned aircraft and ground control technologies; high-fidelity training and simulation systems; automated aerospace test and maintenance equipment; armament systems; and logistical, engineering, supply chain and operational support services.
AAI became an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, in late 2007. United Industrial Corporation, AAI’s parent company, was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange until its acquisition by Textron.
Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Md., AAI has more than 2,500 employees and 621,000 square feet of facilities and manufacturing space. We also have key facilities in Charleston, S.C., Huntsville, Ala., Austin, Texas and Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. These and our field offices around the country support various defense industry customer bases and requirements.
Our strategic acquisitions in recent years include electronic warfare systems company ESL Defence Limited of the United Kingdom and Australian unmanned aircraft systems developer Aerosonde Pty Ltd. In 2006, AAI acquired Symtx Inc., an Austin, Texas-based automated test equipment provider. In December 2009, Symtx became part of AAI Corporation, and now operates as AAI’s Automated Test Equipment center under the company’s Test & Training Systems organization.
