AAI Corporation was founded in 1950 by five longstanding defense industry experts who raised $1,000 in start-up capital between them.
Originally founded as Aircraft Armaments, Inc., in a former supermarket storefront, the company’s name later was changed to AAI Corporation to more accurately reflect the diverse nature of its product and service offerings. The company moved to its Hunt Valley, Md., headquarters in 1954.
AAI became part of the Textron family of businesses in late 2007, ushering in a new and exciting era for the company. United Industrial Corporation, AAI’s parent company, was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange until its acquisition by Textron.
In 2011, AAI Corporation separated into three operating units within Textron Systems, named AAI Logistics & Technical Services, AAI Test & Training and AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems. These organizations occupy more than one million square feet of space at the Hunt Valley headquarters, numerous other U.S. locations and worldwide.
Today, AAI Logistics & Technical Services, AAI Test & Training and AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems remain focused on delivering innovative and affordable product and service solutions to customers around the globe.
