Hunt Valley, Maryland — August 3, 2009 — AAI
Corporation, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron
Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that its Charleston location, located in Goose Creek, S.C., has been selected for a 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility.
This award is presented to employers in the greater Charleston area by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and its When Work Works national partners — the Families and Work Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for a Competitive Workforce and the Twiga Foundation. It honors companies that incorporate workplace flexibility successfully to meet both business and employee goals. Winning companies ranked in the top 20 percent among the entrants, and received favorable reviews in an employee survey sizing up the company’s flexible workplace initiatives.
“Our employees across AAI and Textron Systems are united in their passion to provide superior products and services to America’s warfighters, ensuring they are best able to meet their mission objectives,” says AAI Vice President, Training and Simulation Paul Mueller. “We work hard to create and sustain the kind of flexible work environment that can support our employees as well as meet our mission. This award for AAI’s Charleston location reflects the collective efforts of all our employees. Since this honor came as a result of the thoughts and opinions of our employees on their workplace, it is an especially great source of pride for us.”
AAI’s Charleston operation develops and supports maintenance training systems for vital U.S. Air Force platforms including the C-17, F-22 and F-35 aircraft. This location also leverages its in-house engineering, design and production capabilities to provide unmanned aircraft systems production support, as well as training system development.
