Requiring minimal equipment and logistics, FASTCOM can be deployed using an unmanned aircraft, aerostat or ground vehicle equipped with ViaSat's Pico Cell hardware integrated into AAI's external pods. As deployed on AAI's Shadow® Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System, FASTCOM users have access to aircraft telemetry and smartphone applications, backhaul into traditional wired communications channels on the battlespace network, and interoperability with intelligence and tactical messaging systems.
Using existing technologies and non-communications security controlled, or non-CCI,
equipment for rapid deployment, FASTCOM is a turnkey mobile telecommunications solution for even the most austere environments.
